DERRY — The annual Miss New Hampshire 2013 competition is set for April 25-27 at Pinkerton Academy’s Stockbridge Theatre.
The preliminary competitions begin April 25-26, with the final crowning set for April 27.
The event features 28 young women from across the state competing for the top title.
The winner receives $10,000 in scholarships and will represent the state at ceremonial functions and at the Miss America competition in Atlantic City in September.
“We are pleased to announce the continued tradition of the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Competition,” said president and Brenda Keith, executive director of the Miss New Hampshire organization. “Our organization empowers young women by recognizing their levels of excellence in the areas of scholastic achievement, performing arts, healthy living, leadership and community involvement.”
The public has the unique opportunity to vote for two contestants they would like to see included among the semifinalists and possibly become Miss New Hampshire 2013. Votes can be cast through the organizations website at missnh.org or at facebook.com/MissNH.
A panel of five judges, including two New Hampshire business leaders, will determine 10 contestants who earn the greatest number of points in the five phases of preliminary competition.
The two contestants gathering the largest number of public votes will join them for a Top 12 at the start of the final show on April 27. Contestants will also seek votes from friends, neighbors and the general public through media and social networks.
