Derry show chorus seeks new members

DERRY — The Rhythm of New Hampshire Show Chorus is gearing up for its ninth season and seeks women who love to sing.

The Derry-based, all-female barbershop group is a charter member of Sweet Adelines International, an a cappella harmony organization for women.

A summer recruitment drive runs all summer on Thursday nights from 6:45 to 8 at the Marion Gerrish Community Center, 39 West Broadway.

Women ages 14 and up are welcome to attend the free summer program. All voice parts are welcome.

“We are making great strides on fun, vocal arrangements and would love women from our community to join us as we continue to grow,” said chorus music director Jessie Oslan. “It will be a fun, exciting summer and we invite women to come experience how much fun we have together.

Chorus assistant director Renee Fellows said the group will be adding more contemporary numbers to its repertoire, including more blues, jazz and Broadway tunes.

The chorus will also present its sixth original stage show, “Sound WAVES,” set to take the Derry Opera House stage in October.
