Ety Hayim honors 'Thanksgivukkah'

DERRY — It was a special day for many reasons.

Families and members of Etz Hayim Synagogue get ready this time of year for upcoming celebrations of Hanukkah. This year, Thanksgiving also falls on the same day as the beginning of the Jewish holiday, Nov. 28.

Etz Hayim hosted a special “Thanksgivukkah” celebration Nov. 5 at the Derry synagogue, inviting families to stop by for traditional Hanukkah games, treats and traditions, but with a few Thanksgiving activities included.

Children played games, learned about both holidays and made treats to look like turkeys. They also decorated cookies with Hanukkah colors and designs.

The day was for families to learn about both holidays.
