DERRY — The sun was shining bright on little ghouls and goblins as Derry celebrated Halloween with its annual downtown trick-or-treat event Saturday.
With such warm temperatures, children and their families were out in force, enjoying the day and walking up and down Broadway, Crystal Avenue and on to Hood Commons to get plenty of treats from participating businesses along the way.
The annual event is hosted by Parks and Recreation and includes a costume parade and contest to kick off the season.
It was so busy along the Halloween route that some businesses reported running out of candy early on.
One business staffer said about 800 pieces of candy were handed out in an hour and a half.
