St. Luke’s offers meal and music

DERRY — St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 63 East Broadway, celebrates the season with a holiday loaf and ladle/talent show event Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. in the church vestry.

There will be holiday sing-a-longs, trivia contests and a talent show. The St. Luke’s choir will provide special music.

The menu includes all sorts of soups and chowders, bread and dessert. There will be a freewill offering to benefit the Derry News Santa Fund.

‘The Triumph’ screens Dec. 12

LONDONDERRY — The film “The Triumph” is coming to Londonderry on Dec. 12. The documentary will be shown at O’neil Cinemas, 16 Orchard View Drive. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The Holy Rosary will be held at 6:40 p.m., the movie at 7:15. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students. The film event is a fundraiser for Comunita Cenacolo. Visit thetriumph.org for information.

Seminar is about ‘Planet in Distress’

DERRY — Author Scott Christiansen will present a three-part “Planet In Distress” seminar on Dec. 6 and 7 at the Derry Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

The seminar will explore the marked and accelerating decline in the Earth’s systems. Christiansen will also delve into scripture and outline how the decline in the Earth’s systems and the subsequent impacts on human society mesh closely with what is predicted in prophecy.

Christiansen will speak at 7 p.m. Friday, then again at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Following a potluck lunch to which all attendees are invited, Christiansen’s final presentation will begin at 2 p.m. The church is located at 7 Brook St., 537-0624.

Christiansen is the author of “Planet In Distress: Environmental Degradation and the Great Controversy.”

Free meal network continues Dec. 8

DERRY — Area churches host regular free meals for the community.

The next meals are scheduled for Dec. 8, lunch served at Seventh Day Adventist Church, noon to 1 p.m.; Dec. 8, dinner served 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Church of the Transfiguration.
