Derry seniors enjoy a 'snow day'

Local seniors treated to a fun January event

Derry News

---- — DERRY — Local seniors enjoyed an official “snow day” event —rescheduled due to snow.

Seniors gathered at the Alexander-Carr Park lodge to enjoy Senior Snow Day, including a luncheon that had to be rescheduled because of a midweek snowstorm the day before.

The crowd was still hearty. Dozens of seniors filed into the lodge to greet friends, enjoy some potluck casseroles and salads, and enjoy special activities all aimed at keeping everyone warm and out of the snow.

The luncheon was one of a long list of activities provided for the town’s older citizens throughout the year.

Activities throughout the year include fitness classes, special trips, ice cream socials, picnics, game times, crafts and much more.

Most classes and events are held at the Marion Gerrish Community Center or at nearby Veterans Hall on West Broadway.
