Chili and chowder topped the menu

Chili/chowder cook-off aids Salvation Army programs

---- — DERRY — There was live music, pumpkins to paint, an inflatable house to bounce in, but chili and chowder cooked up by local restaurants and individuals were the stars of the day.

MacGregor Park was hopping Saturday and people’s appetites sated during the Salvation Army’s fourth annual Chili/Chowder Cookoff.

Procceds from the event will benefit the Salvation Army’s mission and community projects.

A number of local restaurants participated and lots of local residents and guests attended to see whose chili and whose chowder would earn their votes as the best.

The competition was all for a good cause and ribbing was in good fun as chefs scooped up samples of their favorite recipes.
