Talent takes center stage

DERRY — There’s plenty of local talent, as evidenced in the Greater Derry’s Got Talent show Friday night.

The finalists performed and the top three repeated their acts Saturday at Derryfest.

Andrea Debra won with her slam poetry performance of an original work.

Second place went to Dance Progressions 2 Legit 2 Quit dance team. members performed to a medley of songs, including “Gnagnam Style” by PSY, “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice, and Too Legit to Quit” by MC Hammer. Members of the team are Austin Smith, Christopher Miller, Michael Crowley, Ryan Cullen, Tyler Collins, Christopher Couto, and Nick Couto.

Sarah Rodgers took third with a performance of “Part of Your World” written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashma

The annual talent event will be held in September with preliminary auditions taking place Aug. 27 and 28 at Dance Progressions, 109 Hillside Avenue, Derry.

The show is hosted by the Greater Derry Arts Council.
