DERRY — The Red Star Twirlers will hit the stage at the Stockbridge Theatre at Pinkerton Academy to kick off Fourth of July week.
The show is set for June 30 at 7 p.m. and features a large cast of twirlers of all ages presenting routines to favorite Broadway tunes and Disney favorites.
Director Gina Hutchinson said the show will put all ages of talented twirlers in the spotlight.
"This is truly a production for all ages and a great way to kick off the Fourth of July week," she said.
The show includes video of the twirlers marching up Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C., during their recent trip to the nation's capital to celebrate Memorial Day.
Red Stars visited Arlington National Cemetery and placed flowers on the graves of five New Hampshire soldiers who lost their lives in the Iraq/Afghanistan wars.
Many Red Star alumni will grace the Stockbridge stage, including Alyssa McLaughlin, Kaleigh McIver and Jacquelyn Peaslee.
Seniors Jessica Avelar of Nashua, Katherine Carlson of Derry and Nicole Drake of Bedford will perform, then bid farewell to the team as they prepare to head off to college in the fall.
Also joining the cast is "The Red Star Prep School" where all champions begin their twirling/performing journey. As young as age 4, Prep School also features the Red Stars' only male twirler, 12-year-old Jeremy Bornstein of Londonderry.
Tickets cost $20 for adults, $10 for children 12 and under. They are available at the Derry Parks and Recreation building, 31 West Broadway, on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 6 and 8 p.m., or at the door 30 minutes prior to show time.
Tickets are also being donated to area seniors who participate in Derry Recreation programs, as well as those living at senior living facilities in town.
