DERRY — Oh, the weather outside was a bit frightful, but area sledding hills were delightful for families hoping to catch some early winter fun.
The sliding hill at Alexander-Carr Park in Derry was busy once December snowstorms arrived, giving families a chance to get out and enjoy.
During the winter, the park on Pierce Avenue will be a busy place, bringing in people from all over the region to enjoy snowboarding and sledding action.
The park will be open during the winter for outdoor fun and will also host a majority of the activities in the annual Frost Festival, planned for Feb. 14-16.
The park’s lodge is also popular in town for senior activities, health and fitness classes and other gatherings.
While families enjoy the snow outside, others wanting to come in and keep warm can enjoy a concession stand, games and television.
Londonderry families also enjoyed some winter fun when they took to the slope behind Mack’s Apples on Mammoth Road. The sledding hill is a popular spot as well, with many children trying out new sleds and snowshoes after the holidays.
