DERRY — West Running Brook students are gearing up for their annual foray into the world of musical theater.
Students present the show "Once On This Island" on Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. and again Feb. 4 at 4 p.m. at Pinkerton Academy's Stockbridge Theatre.
The show is based on the classic tale "The Little Mermaid" by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen.
Rehearsals for the show began last fall. Students have been practicing their songs and dances under the guidance of West Running Brook music teacher and music director Blake Leister and stage director Jennifer Ciarla.
The show features Alyssa Greig in the lead role of TiMoune, who rescues then sets her sights on the wealthy boy Daniel.
Backing up the principal characters are a cast of about 30 West Running Brook drama club members, along with support from parent volunteer group, the Stage Bears.
Tickets for "Once on This Island" are $10 for adults, $7 for students and senior citizens. They are available through the Stockbridge ticket office from 1 to 5 p.m. daily.
Tickets will also be available on show days at the door.
