Still time to sign up for 'Derry's Got Talent'

DERRY — Calling all local talent.

Anyone with talent — singing, juggling, dancing, comedy — is invited to try out for the upcoming “Derry’s Got Talent” event, set for Sept. 14 at the Derry Opera House.

The talent show runs the night prior to the annual Derryfest celebration in MacGregor Park.

Auditions are set for Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Opera House.

The winners will be eligible for prizes including cash, gift certificates and Fisher Cats baseball tickets.

The show is sponsored by the Greater Derry Arts Council and Derryfest Committee.

Audition and registration information in now available online at There is a $15 application fee to enter the show.

All entrants that sing or dance should bring a karaoke-style CD along to the audition.

A panel of judges will choose winners at the final show, along with votes tallied from the audience.

Winners of “Derry’s Got Talent” will have an opportunity to perform during the Derryfest event.

Deadline for entries is Sept. 5, but entrants can also bring completed applications to the auditions.

Tickets to the Sept. 14 are $7 for adults, $5 for students.
