Citizens Bank launches backpack project
MANCHESTER — Citizens Bank is collecting new school supplies as part of its Gear for Grades initiative, an effort to help local schoolchildren. New pencils, folders, glue, notebooks and other classroom supplies can be donated at any Citizens Bank branch in New Hampshire through Aug. 6.
Citizens Bank is donating 3,000 backpacks to the program. The backpacks will be filled with the donated school supplies and distributed to youth programs throughout the state, beginning Aug. 16. Through Gear for Grades, 3,000 children in New Hampshire will receive a new backpack and school supplies.
Now in its fifth year, the program has provided more than 12,000 backpacks to New Hampshire schoolchildren since its inception.
Londonderry man named Associate of the Quarter
Associate Ken Schaefer of Londonderry is New Hampshire Business Sales' Associate of the Quarter for the second quarter of 2010, having sold property worth more than $1.5 million.
For more than 15 years, Schaefer was a business owner. He has been with New Hampshire Business Sales since 2006. He is an active member of the Business Transition Strategies team, a division of NH Business Sales. He is currently working on engagements to sell a motel, historic 1700s era home and barn, commercial property, a boat yard and more.
He likes to fish and hike in his spare time.
Benson's donates plants to Londonderry school
DERRY — Benson Lumber and Hardware has donated 22 perennials, 154 herb plants, several annuals and two small blueberry bushes to the Cyclone team at Londonderry Middle School.
The donation, with a retail value of $300, was made for students' studies in the ecosystems and their connection to the environment.
"Supporting the Derry and Londonderry communities is very important to us," company owner Brad Benson said. "We are honored to give back to the community and the education of our students."
Benson Lumber and Hardware has been serving the community since 1913. They are located at 20 Orchard View Drive in Londonderry and at 6 Martin St. in Derry.
