Three local women join Tastefully Simple

DERRY — The following local residents have become independent consultants with Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct sales company featuring more than 60 easy-to-prepare foods: Patty Amirault of Derry, Aly Lebel of Newton and Trisha Healey of Salem.

These independent business owners offer food samples at home taste-testing parties, along with easy ideas for everyday meals, recipes, serving suggestions and fun. All of Tastefully Simple's products are open-and-enjoy or can be prepared by adding only one or two ingredients.

Benson's donates plants to Beautify Londonderry

Benson Lumber and Hardware donated 82 4-inch annuals, including geraniums, bacopa, vinca, petunias and marigolds to Beautify Londonderry.

Beautify Londonderry is a group of volunteers that works to enhance the landscape at the Londonderry public schools, the police station and other locations in Londonderry. The total donation was worth $300.

"Supporting the Derry and Londonderry communities is very important to us," said Brad Benson, owner of Benson Lumber and Hardware. "We are honored to give back to the community, and help make it healthier and more attractive."

Benson Lumber and Hardware has been serving the community since 1913. They have locations in Derry and Londonderry.

Redbox opens automated DVD kiosk in Derry

DERRY — Redbox, the fully automated DVD rental kiosk, announces the opening of a new location at Hess, 50 Birch St., in Derry.

Consumers can now rent DVDs from the redbox kiosk at Hess in Derry and return them to any of the more than 21,000 redbox locations nationwide.

"By placing our redbox kiosks where consumers already shop, redbox makes it easy for movie lovers and people on the go to rent the latest new release DVDs at an affordable price," said Gary Cohen, senior vice president marketing and customer experience.

Each redbox kiosk holds 630 DVDs. Consumers use a touch screen to select a movie, swipe a credit or debit card, and go.

T-Bones in Derry to host Women After Work

DERRY — T-Bones Great American Eatery, 39 Crystal Ave., hosts its Women After Work free monthly networking series on Aug. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The series was created by T-Bones and Cactus Jack's and is hosted by chef Nicole and WZID morning host Tracy Caruso. The free event offers culinary tips, cocktail creations and wine samplings.

Hampshire First Bank releases second-quarter earnings

Hampshire First Bank's net income for the six months ending June 30, totaled $440,000 or $0.16 (basic) per share compared to a net loss of $40,000 or ($0.01) (basic) per share for the same period last year.

For the three months ending June 30, net income totaled $266,000, more than a 50 percent increase over the first three months of the year. Total assets amounted to $201.5 million, compared to $147.1 million a year ago. This represents a 37 percent growth rate and was gained by continued strong loan demand and deposit growth year over year of 40 percent and 54 percent, respectively.

"This level of growth although slowing from prior year's extraordinary pace shows that the market continues to accept our personalized products and services," said James Dunphy, president and CEO of Hampshire First Bank. "We continue to find sound business relationships in our Southern New Hampshire marketplace."
