"A Chorus Line" auditions, Aug. 24, noon to 4 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. and Aug. 25, 5 to 9 p.m., at McAllaster Hall on the campus of Central High School in Manchester. The dance will be taught for the first hour of each of the three time slots and auditions will commence afterward. Please wear dance clothing and shoes. Prepare a song, 16 bars, not from the show but of a similar Broadway style. Also be prepared to do cold reads and improv work. You must be 16 or older, 15 with parental consent, to audition. Palace Theatre and Chester College are sponsoring three one-week Professional Theatre Camps for high school students who want to study acting, voice and dance. Training will be provided by Broadway and theater industry professionals in this seven-day overnight camp on the Chester College campus. Students will earn one college credit in theater studies from Chester College of New England, which is transferable to any college or university. Cost for participation is $1,200 and includes tuition, room and meals. There will be one-week sessions. Session 3: Aug. 3 to 9. There is a $50, nonrefundable application fee. "Majestic's Making the Band" runs through Aug. 16, from fashion photos and headshots, to recording sessions and even jam sessions as rehearsals for those instrumentalists (piano, drums, guitar, etc.) to accompany your fellow cast members. There will also be an emphasis on improvisational skills and stage presence.
Yellow Taxi Productions, Nashua's professional theatre organization, will begin free monthly lunchtime lectures and performances in downtown Nashua. This Lunch Box Series returns Thursday, Aug. 14, with a lecture on "Playwriting Basics," led by Lowell Williams, with a performance of the 10-minute play "Playwriting 101: The Rooftop Lesson." Both events start at 12:10 p.m. and will last for 40 minutes.
