Palace Theatre and Chester College are sponsoring three one-week Professional Theatre Camps for high school students who want to study acting, voice and dance. Training will be provided by Broadway and theater industry professionals in this seven-day overnight camp on the Chester College campus. Students will earn one college credit in theater studies from Chester College of New England, which is transferable to any college or university. Cost for participation is $1,200 and includes tuition, room and meals. There will be three one-week sessions. Session 1: July 20-26; Session 2: July 27-Aug. 2; Session 3: Aug. 3-9. Auditions for Disney's "Beauty and the Beast," presented by Music and Drama Company Summer Youth Production, ages 8 to 20, on June 9 and 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Londonderry Middle School, 313 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. The Rhythm of N.H. Show Chorus seeks female singers to join its a cappella, four-part harmony ranks. The group is a charter member of Sweet Adelines International and all ages are invited. Pastel and oil painting course, hosted by Robin Thornhill Fine Art. Classes are on May 21 and 28 and June 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Adams Memorial Opera House in Derry. The course will consist of six semi-private lessons open to beginner/intermediate students interested in painting instruction with their choice of oil or pastel. Seacoast Writers Association Spring Conference on Saturday, May 17, at Chester College of New England, Chester. "The Joy, Sorrow, and Joy Again of Writing" is the keynote speech. The conference begins with registration and a continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m, and then celebrates the winners of the SWA 2008 writing contest. First-place winners will read their winning entries. Currently scheduled are Sing Out No. 1, a singing camp for ages 7 to 11, Sing Out No. 2, a singing camp for ages 12 to 16, and "Some Enchanted Evening," a musical theater camp for ages 9 to 16. Both Sing Out camps will run the week of June 23 through June 27 (No. 1 is 10 a.m. to noon and No. 2 is 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; the recital for both is at 6 p.m. on June 27).
