LONDONDERRY — Due to popular demand and a two-night sellout in January; a third two-hour adult educational workshop titled “Understanding Your Social Security Benefit Options” has been scheduled at the brand-new Financial Planning Adult Education Conference Center in Londonderry.
The workshop is being offered Thursday Feb. 6, from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m.
After being told for years that Social Security is “going broke,” baby boomers are realizing that it will soon be their turn to collect. But the decisions they make now can have a tremendous impact on the total amount of benefits they stand to receive over their lifetime.
Workshop attendees will learn important rules that affect the amount of benefits they collect, as well as strategies for coordinating Social Security with other sources of retirement income.
To help baby boomers better understand the Social Security system, this workshop will cover:
When benefits may begin and how age will affect when to apply.
Strategies to consider before deciding to apply for benefits.
When it makes sense to delay benefits — and when it does not.
How to maximize benefits, while minimizing taxes on them.
How the wrong Social Security decision can cost money.
How current employment will affect benefits.
How two little known strategies could increase family income and survivor benefits.
How cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) impact benefits.
The workshop will be held at 77 Gilcreast Road, Suite 2003, Londonderry.
Tuition is $9.95 per person; spouses may register at no additional cost.
Seating is limited and reservations are required. To reserve a spot, call 552-3230.
