---- — Chiropractic office supports Sonshine

DERRY — Broadway Chiropractic Office of Derry will host its fifth annual Doctors with a Heart Day Wednesday, March 13.

Broadway Chiropractic is encouraging new and returning patients to donate $10 to Derry’s Sonshine Soup Kitchen at its office in lieu of payment for any chiropractic care received that day. New patients are encouraged to visit for a complimentary evaluation.

“This provides our office and our patients with a great opportunity to support an important Derry charitable organization,” Dr. Philip Szalowski said. “It’s also a great way for new patients to learn about the benefits of chiropractic care.”

The Sonshine Soup Kitchen is seeking support from area businesses in order to relocate to a larger facility and meet its growing demands. The soup kitchen recently launched a fundraising campaign, requesting 50 organizations help raise or donate $1,000 each by April 1.

Broadway Chiropractic Office has set its fundraising goal for the event at $1,000. The office will be open Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Broadway Chiropractic’s Doctor’s With a Heart Day and patient appreciation days are biannual events that provide free or minimal cost chiropractic care and health evaluations while benefitting local charities and nonprofit organizations.

Doctors with a Heart is a national health practitioners’ organization that provides promotional and educational programs to chiropractic practitioners nationwide.

Chamber forms Nonprofit Committee

DERRY – The Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce announced the establishment of a new Nonprofit Committee that has begun meeting at the Chamber office on every second Thursday of the month from 9 to 10 a.m.

The mission of the group is to increase visibility of local nonprofit groups, and enhance and strengthen their relationships with local businesses. The committee also wants to build cooperative spirit within the nonprofit community.

“The addition of a Nonprofit Committee to the Chamber’s efforts is the first step in building a bridge between the charitable community and the business world,” executive director Stacey Bruzzese said. “Most nonprofit organizations are making our community a better place to live, whether through a hot meal, warm bed or life changing service. When a company supports nonprofit efforts, it shines a positive light on their company and shows community support, which has been proven to increase likability and ultimately sales. Clearly we are creating a win-win situation.”

Businesses hosting Business After Hours will have the opportunity to partner/showcase a nonprofit of their choice. La Carreta, a recent Business After Hours host, launched the effort by highlighting the Greater Derry Boys and Girls Club.

On Thursday, May 7, at the Business After Hours at The Upper Room, the committee will be hosting a nonprofit fair, where attendees can learn more about what’s happening in their community. If you are a nonprofit entity and interested in having a table, call the Chamber at 432-8205. Space is limited.

The next meeting for the Nonprofit Committee is on Thursday, March 14, at 9 a.m. at the Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber, 29 West Broadway, Derry. All are welcome to attend. For more information, email
