---- — LONDONDERRY — The Londonderry Marching Lancers and Color Guard are well known, and one local business has found a unique way to give back.
“My parents and family have been a part of the community for 22 years,” Jacquelyn Phillips, the owner of the L-Town Garage, said.
Free inspections are granted to customers who donate $29 to the Londonderry Friends of Music.
The Londonderry Friends of Music is the group responsible for all the fundraising events, donations and volunteer work behind the marching band and color guard.
Since 2010, The L-Town Garage at 3 Coal Pocket Road has raised nearly $20,000, Phillips said.
Phillips was not involved with the marching band while in high school, but she still recognizes the band’s importance.
In addition, if customers do decide to have repair work done at the garage after the inspection, 10 percent of the profits will also be donated to the Friends of Music.
One garage employee does have some nieces and nephews who plan to be a part of the band once they are in high school, Phillips said.
“It has been a great way for customers to give back to the community,” Phillips said.
