Derry News honored by N.H. Press Association

The Derry News was honored last week by the New Hampshire Press Association.

The newspaper staff earned honors for reporting, editorial writing and photography.

The Derry News received first place for General Excellence in the non-daily division for the second consecutive year.

Derry News editor Jo-Anne MacKenzie was named Editorial Writer of the Year.

Reporter Julie Huss received second-place awards for business/economic reporting and sports feature story, and a third-place award for a general news story.

Tim Jean earned Photographer of the Year honors again this year and also took home a first-place award for a feature photo.

Jean also earned first-place honors for spot news photography and a third-place award for feature photography.

Photographer Jan Seeger won first place for a picture story and two second-place awards for a sports photograph and a feature photo.

In the daily newspaper category, the New Hampshire edition of The Eagle-Tribune won second place for General Excellence.

Reporter Doug Ireland won second place for spot news reporting.

Seeger won a second-place award for a feature photo in the daily category, in addition to her Derry News awards.
