DERRY — Applebee’s will get a face-lift, inside and out.
The Derry restaurant at 14 Manchester Road will undergo a renovation project to upgrade its interior and exterior space.
The restaurant is one of 66 New England and New York locations now being renovated after the businesses were acquired by the Apple American Group.
Apple American representative Lita Hogan told town planners last week that the local restaurant would be adding new awnings, a stone facade, as well as interior upgrades to carpeting, wall decor and seating.
Of all the restaurants in the group getting the upgrades, Derry’s restaurant is one of about 20 remaining to complete.
“It’s going to be beautiful,” Hogan said.
The changes to the restaurant’s interior will include new colors and a stronger focus on New England sports teams, Hogan said.
Town Administrator John Anderson said he hoped Applebee’s would consider using native New Hampshire granite for its facade materials.
He said the new Walmart store across the road agreed to use the native stone in its plan.
Applebee’s in Derry is slated to close for renovations on Sept. 16, with a scheduled reopening on Sept. 19.
